Earlier this month, Charlie Sheen released a memoir titled The Book of Sheen. Given that he’s been involved in a fair share of controversies himself, he addresses the challenges he faced in his personal life and reflects on his lifestyle and Hollywood career. But one of the controversies detailed in the memoir has less to do with him and more to do with former president Bill Clinton.
In the memoir, Sheen, who is nearly 20 years younger than Clinton, claims that Clinton tried to hit on his college-aged girlfriend about 10 years prior to his infamous affair. Back in the ’80s, Sheen was working onThree For The Road with Alan Ruck and Kerri Green. Sheen and his co-stars were staying in Arkansas to work on the film, and Clinton was the state’s governor at the time. In the book, Sheen writes about receiving a “pretty surreal” invite from Clinton. He and his costars ended up visiting Clinton’s home for a photo op, and Sheen brought his then-girlfriend, Dolly Fox.
According to Sheen, Clinton allegedly expressed interest in his girlfriend at the time. “I was answering a reporter’s question when Ruck overheard Clinton whisper to one of his aides, ‘Find out what you can about the brunette.’ The brunette was Dolly, and to this day Alan swears it was an exact quote,'” Sheen alleged in his book.

Sheen said he felt bad for his girlfriend for getting this kind of attention from Clinton, but he also took some pride in it. “I felt bad for Dolly to be objectified and skeeved-out like that, but still had to take some pride in ‘Bubba’ fancying my gal,” Sheen continued. “Alan gave Dolly the rundown in the bar later on that same night. To her credit, she laughed and was actually flattered.”
At the time, Clinton would’ve been about 41 years old. Sheen and his then-girlfriend were in their early twenties. So, unsurprisingly, when Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky came to light years later, it reminded Sheen of how he witnessed Clinton go after a much-younger woman in the past (and while married to Hillary Clinton).
In his book, Sheen said it felt like the perfect time to share the story with people — but they didn’t exactly see him as a reliable source. The controversy surrounding Clinton’s affair and his impeachment hearing was happening while Sheen was in rehab.
Though no one believed Sheen’s story about Clinton at the time, he thought the anecdote might come in handy later on. “I was still pretty faded on detox meds and no one believed me,” Sheen wrote. “I literally said out loud to the group huddled around the TV, ‘It’s kool, I’ll put it in a book one day and you can all go [expletive] yourselves.’ (And here we are).” Clearly, he’s been waiting for this opportunity.
