Vice President JD Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, recently went out without wearing her wedding ring, and the appearance certainly isn’t helping quell divorce rumors. On Wednesday, November 19, Usha visited Camp Lejeune, a military training facility located in North Carolina, with First Lady Melania Trump.
After photos of the appearance went viral, people noticed that she seemingly ditched her wedding ring. Given that divorce rumors have already been circulating (especially because of JD’s interactions with Erika Kirk), people took the photos as a sign.
But Usha reportedly just forgot to wear her ring.
After the appearance reignited the divorce rumors, a spokesperson for the second lady suggested that the ringless appearance didn’t mean anything. According to the spokesperson (per People), Usha is “a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.” And to some people, this explanation made a lot of sense.
“Married 23 years here,” one person wrote on X. “I’ve legit forgotten my ring so many times doing dishes, baths, or chasing toddlers that my husband jokes it’s ‘on vacation.’ Usha Vance is a mom of three little kids. She forgot her ring once. Leave this woman alone.” Other women agreed that they don’t wear their wedding rings all the time, and it’s not a big deal.
But others still seemed convinced that there might be more to the story. On X, Trump Tracker shared the photos of Usha without her wedding ring and wrote, “Second lady of the United States, Usha Vance was spotted without her wedding ring. She is seemingly happier now than ever.” Besides, as some skeptics questioned, are we really meant to believe that Usha is doing her own dishes?

It doesn’t help that some people believe Usha has been “publicly humiliated” by her husband.

Another X user offered this theory: “She’s not forgetting her ring. She took it off on purpose probably after her husband was inappropriately hugging Charlie Kirk’s widow or after he publicly said he wants his Hindu wife to convert to Christianity.”
During an event on October 29, Erika Kirk said, “No one will ever replace my husband. But I do see some similarities of my husband in JD — in Vice President JD Vance. I do. And that’s why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight.”
When JD and Erika greeted each other on stage, they shared a hug that came across as rather intimate.
In photos that have circulated on social media, Erika placed her hands on the back of JD’s head, and he rested his hands on her waist. Though the photos make it seem like Erika and JD are especially close, she has also spoken highly of Usha.
Speaking to Fox News host Jesse Watters, Erika said Usha has been extremely supportive as she grieves. “He and Usha, they are the most incredible people,” she said. “Incredible. With such genuine love.”
But that hasn’t stopped some people from thinking JD and Usha could be headed toward divorce.
On Reddit, in a message directed at Usha, one person wrote, “run, girl – RUN.” Another person reiterated a theory that has been circulating online: “He and Erika are gonna end up together.”
