What to Know
JD Vance has a message for those who have criticized his wife, Usha Vance: “eat s–t.” During a recent interview with UnHerd, the vice president responded to racist comments white supremacist podcaster Nick Fuentes made about him and his wife. In denouncing the comments, however, he grouped Nick with former Biden White House press secretary Jen Psaki, who previously questioned why Usha was with JD.
In the past, people have called JD out for not standing up for his wife and kids. I’ve Had It podcast host Jennifer Welch argued that by not taking a stand against racist messaging, JD was refusing to defend his own family. “If this man will not defend his wife and will not defend his kids, do you think he gives a crap about you or anything to do with you?” she argued.
Now, JD has asserted that “racism is bad.”
At the same time, he seemed to downplay Nick’s comments and influence. During his interview with UnHerd, JD said, “Let me be clear. Anyone who attacks my wife, whether their name is Jen Psaki or Nick Fuentes, can eat s–t. That’s my official policy as vice president of the United States.”
He added, “Antisemitism, and all forms of ethnic hatred have no place in the conservative movement. Whether you’re attacking somebody because they’re white or because they’re black or because they’re Jewish, I think it’s disgusting.”
Jen previously offered to “save” Usha from her husband during an appearance on the I’ve Had It podcast. “I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife,” she said. “Like, are you OK? Please blink four times. Come over here — we’ll save you.”
Meanwhile, Nick has used an ethnic slur against Usha and has called JD a “race traitor” for marrying her.
JD framed Nick’s comments as “annoying.”
He described Nick as a “podcaster” whose “influence within Donald Trump’s administration, and within a whole host of institutions on the Right, is vastly overstated.” JD also implied that people have bigger things to worry about.
“Let’s say you believe, as I do, that racism is bad, that we should judge people according to their deeds and not their ethnicity,” he said. “Is Nick Fuentes really the problem in this country? He’s a podcaster. He has a dedicated group of young fans, and some of them have been s—-y to my friends and family. Does that annoy me? Of course.”

"If you call Usha Vance, the second lady of the United States of America, a 'jeet,' you have no place in the future of the conservative movement."
Those are words that should have come out of JD Vances mouth..pic.twitter.com/GedKLHhw8j
He then went on to talk about how people are allegedly discriminating against white men. He said, “Let’s keep some perspective. For the past five to 10 years, I’ve watched one-half of our political leadership go all in on the idea that discriminating against whites in college admissions and jobs is not just OK, but affirmatively good.”
He continued with, “If you believe racism is bad, Fuentes should occupy one second of your focus, and the people with actual political power who worked so hard to discriminate against white men should occupy many hours of it.”
JD mentioned California Rep. Ro Khanna, who is a Democrat. “It p—es me off that Fuentes calls my kids [racial slur], and I appreciate that Ro Khanna would never do that,” he said. “You know what p—es me off a million times more? That Ro Khanna, AOC, and Chris Murphy would deny them jobs and opportunities because they have the wrong skin color.”
