The White House Posted ‘Two Kings’ With Trump & King Charles — People Had A Lot To Say

When the official White House account shared an image of King Charles and President Donald Trump on social media and captioned it with, “TWO KINGS,” some people were convinced that it had to be “rage bait.” Still, “Why is the U.S. government trolling people?” seems like a fair question to ask.

Previously, after several pop stars complained about the Trump administration using their music to create offensive social media content, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung basically admitted that the Trump administration was sparking this outrage on purpose to increase engagement on social media.

“This just gives us more attention and more view counts to our videos because people want to see what they’re b—-ing about,” Cheung wrote. Which prompted people to ask another fair question: Why does the U.S. government care about social media engagement? Doesn’t the government, perhaps, have other things to worry about?

So, while it’s possible that the “two kings” post is also “rage bait,” that doesn’t make it less concerning.

Besides, although lots of people have argued that the Trump administration is just full of social media trolls, others believe that Trump himself is being 100% serious when he likens himself to a king. In a discussion about the recent post on Reddit, one critic wrote, “The mad part is, so many people think that Trump is merely trolling…I assure you, he believes it.”

Meanwhile, someone else argued that it’s probably both. “He IS trolling but it is STILL reprehensible,” they wrote. “The idea that as long as it’s trolling it’s all fine and dandy has always been dumb.”

Another person added, “‘Har har, that’ll show the Libs!’ I dearly miss the long ago days when governing wasn’t confused with trolling.”

On X, some people acted like this was a funny thing for the White House to post.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham was among them. “Trigger Alert!” she wrote. “The White House has waited months to make this joke. Coast to coast, humorless liberals are seething, veins bulging.” Other Trump supporters described the post as “hilarious,” “incredible rage bait,” and “troll level 1000000.”

But, obviously, lots of people didn’t think there was anything funny about it. “Anyone else grossed out by this?” someone wrote on the platform. And another person said, “didnt america fight a whole a– revolution because they didn’t want a king?” And yet, here we are.

Trump has called himself a king before.

And again, people were not convinced that he was joking. In February 2025, he took to Truth Social and posted, “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!”

At the time, the White House shared Trump’s original post and shared a fake magazine cover that depicted Trump as a king. The cover also read, “LONG LIVE THE KING.”

Yet, during his recent 60 Minutes interview after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting, Trump said he’s not a king. He suggested that the “No Kings” protests across the country could be to blame for some of the threats against him. “Well, see, they— the part— the reason you have people like (the shooting suspect) is you have people doing No Kings,” he said. “I’m not a king. What I am— if I was a king I wouldn’t be dealing with you.”
