The former Prince Andrew has been lying low. He was stripped of his royal titles and evicted from his Windsor residence after allegations against him resurfaced due to his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Even before Andrew was stripped of his royal titles in October 2025, he caused a lot of problems for the royal family due to the myriad of scandals he was involved in.
And though he’s largely been staying out of the spotlight, he was recently photographed near his home on the Sandringham Estate. The concerning image has gone viral and is raising questions about his well-being.
In the photograph, Andrew has a large bruise across his face.

On June 4, the 66-year-old was driving near his home when someone snapped photos of him through his car window. In the pictures, the bruising is obvious. The large bruise stretches across his cheek and beneath his eye.
Understandably, people have questions about it. But, so far, it’s unclear where the bruise came from.
Sources claim that there’s “no drama” involved.

However, that doesn’t necessarily clear things up or reduce concerns. Per The Daily Mail, a source said the mark on Andrew’s face is not a “cause for concern.” They added that there’s “no drama” — whatever that means. And to protect Andrew’s privacy, they declined to share more about what’s going on with him.
The publication also spoke to medical experts who said the bruising could possibly be caused by facial surgery, injury (like being punched), or blood thinners, which can make even minor injury look pretty severe. It’s worth noting that the doctors the publication consulted are merely speculating, as they aren’t actually familiar with Andrew’s situation.
Some insiders have said the bruising is due to a medical condition.
But again, they didn’t really share any details. Per The Times, the mark on Andrew’s face is thought to be related to “a non-serious medical condition.” The internet does not seem to buy these explanations. On Reddit, people left comments like, “Who punched him?” and also questioned why he would even go out with such an obvious bruise on his face.
“Why would he go out in public with that bruise?” one person wrote. “Is he trying to garner sympathy? It isn’t working.”
And, of course, mystery bruises have been in the news quite a bit lately, so it’s really no surprise that Andrew’s face bruise reminded some people of President Donald Trump. Trump has had unexplained bruises on his hands for more than a year now. The White House has tried to say it’s caused by taking aspirin and shaking hands, and critics don’t really believe those explanations, either.
When one of Trump’s cabinet members, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was also spotted with some pretty bad bruising, critics started questioning whether it’s contagious. After seeing the photo of Andrew’s bruise, one person on Reddit joked, “Ooh did he catch what’s on trumps hand?”
Someone else joked that Andrew’s bruise is “clearly this is the result of excessive handshaking.”
