Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been married for five years now, but there are still a decent number of people who suspect that they might not actually be all that compatible. Even though their social media posts (including their recent wedding anniversary posts) suggest they still adore each other, multiple reports have suggested that their lifestyle preferences are extremely different, raising questions about how long their relationship will last.
According to a recent report from InTouch, “they’re two very different people with very different ideas about what makes them happy.”
But does that mean their marriage can’t work?
Not necessarily. Gwen and Blake just celebrated five years of marriage on July 3. Both of them shared wedding photos and sweet, succinct captions on social media to celebrate their anniversary. “5 years and every day is better than the last… I love you (Gwen Stefani) SHELTON!!!! Happy anniversary my pretty girl!!!!”
Meanwhile, Gwen wrote, “5 years married to my forever.” Do these sound like the words of two people who are on the brink of divorce? Not quite. But people remain skeptical of their relationship.
Their friends are allegedly among the people who have doubts.
According to InTouch, it’s not just fans and tabloids who have questions about Gwen and Blake’s compatibility. Their friends have reportedly wondered how they make their relationship work as well. An insider who spoke to the publication admitted that Gwen and Blake obviously “love each other dearly.” However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the relationship is sustainable, given that their friends have allegedly witnessed them dealing with “the same old issues” for years at this point.
“They always joke that they’re living proof opposites attract, but the reality is they’re two very different people with very different ideas about what makes them happy,” the insider claimed.
Previously, the publication reported that Blake’s preferred way of living is not really Gwen’s cup of tea. While he enjoys working on the farm in his home state of Oklahoma, Gwen allegedly finds it tolerable but “monotonous.”
Because Gwen prefers Los Angeles, the source claimed that “they’ve been trying to find a happy medium for years and it’s still very much a work in progress.”
And they’re also incredibly busy people.
Which is another reason for the divorce rumors. Any time Gwen and Blake have a lot going on and aren’t seen with each other for some time, the divorce rumors seem to reemerge. While spending time apart most likely has more to do with their busy schedules than it does with any relationship tension, it does seem to impact their relationship in some ways.
In May 2026, Blake actually sort of complained about it on stage. That night, both he and his wife were in Las Vegas, which sounds convenient, except they had shows booked at different venues on the same night. Clearly disappointed that he couldn’t see his wife, Blake said, “My wife came to town. She’s here. I mean, she’s not here. She’s over there at another venue. What kind of a d—head books us the exact same nights every single night?”
