A dad on TikTok by the name of Corey Warren, who is known for making his “question” videos centered around drinking and getting sober, posed a question that had parents in a tizzy. In the video, Corey asks about parents who drink and, essentially, how reliable they are for their children. In the comments, parents on both sides of the coin shared their thoughts on Corey’s question.
Some thought it was pretty out of pocket for Corey to make assumptions about parents who drink from time to time. Others agreed with Corey’s underlying meaning behind the question and what he is clearly getting at. Most of Corey’s content is about getting sober and staying sober, and how even setting limits can be dangerous for some. In this case, though, parents are involved. And when you even hint at someone being a bad parent on social media, it doesn’t go well.

In the video, Corey says his typical intro of asking a “simple question.” But is it really simple when it comes to parents who either feel strongly about the topic or feel incredibly attacked by it? Yeah, not really.
“If you drink alcohol and you’re a parent, I have a simple question for you,” Corey says in the video. “If your kid calls you at midnight and needs you, no warning, no planning, could you jump in the car and go? Could you think clearly? Can you be fully there? See, there’s one thing that I love about sobriety, and it’s simple. Nobody that I love ever has to wonder what version of me is answering that phone.”
It might not be Corey’s intention to get under the skin of parents who drink, but clearly, he wanted to start a discussion. According to his website, Corey struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, and he even went to rehab multiple times. He has spoken about his sobriety and advocates based on his life experiences. But tell that to the keyboard warriors in the comments who were not happy with the question he poses in the video.
Parents lost it in the comments under the video.
Parents and other adults who might not even be parents commented on the video to share their answers to Corey’s question. Others criticized him for what they see as his judgments on other parents for having a drink or two. Some shared cheeky, sarcastic responses.
“Not every person who drinks alcohol is an alcoholic, my dude,” one user commented.
Another added, “People who sober preach are almost as insufferable as people that preach their religion unwarranted.”
“Yes, I’m not an alcoholic getting plastered every time I have a drink,” a parent responded. “I’m a responsible parent who also enjoys a good beer.”
However, another person added, “The people getting triggered in these comments might have an unhealthy relationship/dependency with alcohol.”
Someone’s more sarcastic response in the comments was, “This is why I never drink, or allow myself to get sick, or go to the movies, or travel for work. I just sit at home, next to the phone, and allow the feelings of innate superiority to wash over me.”
“Does he think everyone gets black-out everytime someone drinks?” a TikTok user wrote. “Like when I drink it’s two drinks at max.”
The dad posted another video asking people if they give themselves “rules” for drinking.

In another video on TikTok, Corey asks another question regarding sobriety and drinking. In this video, he says, “If you drink alcohol, I have a simple question for you, and I want you to try to answer honestly. Have you ever set rules for your drinking? Things like, I’m only gonna drink beer, or I’m taking 30 days off, or I’m only gonna drink socially, or I’m only gonna have one or two, and then I’m going home. See, I had this weird thought. I thought to myself, I wonder if people without a drinking problem spend this much time trying to prove that they don’t have a drinking problem.”
Under that video, users shared thoughts on having “rules,” and some even added their own personal rules. But the comments were far less polarizing than those under Corey’s video, with his question directed towards parents specifically.
