He Vomited Every Day Before School, Until He Asked Mom For Ear Surgery

9-year-old Elwood did his best to keep a secret from his mother, but eventually the truth came out.

Every morning before school he would complain about his stomach hurting. He would tell his mom that he just didn't want to go to school or that he didn't feel great.

Eventually, he began to vomit every morning before they left. But still he tried to tell his mom he just didn't feel like going to school. He would have to rush to the bathroom multiple times because of his stomach trouble, but still he kept up a brave face and went to school in spite of his trouble.

Then one day, Elwood's mom, Sarah, got a phone call from the school. He had thrown up in the middle of class, and when she brought Elwood home they found out the real reason why he didn't want to go to school.

Sarah, an avid dog lover, must have been growing more and more in concern when her darling little boy seemed to be nothing more than a ball of nerves every day before school.

While it took a while before he finally admitted to her that he was being bullied by a bunch of cruel classmates, eventually the truth came out.

This little boy did his best to solve his problems on his own, but the constant bullying became so bad and his anxiety so strong, that eventually his parents had to come in to save the day, and there's nothing wrong with that!

It turns out that the bullies were mocking little Elwood because his ears stuck out a bit more than the other children in his class. Kids really can be cruel can't they?

After months of trying to keep the constant bullying a secret, when the truth came out to his parents, he must have felt a certain sense of relief.

While at first it seemed like nothing could be done, eventually Elwood found out that this was an issue that a lot of people faced, and with a relatively easy surgery he could make his ears a little flatter!

Through a surgery called Pinnaplasty, doctors discovered that Elwood's ears stuck out so far because the cartilage never finished forming correctly. The doctors helped the cartilage go back to normal with a few minor cuts right behind the ears!

Elwood came through the surgery like a real champion. And even though he had to wear a special headband for the next three months, he was incredibly excited for what the future had in store.

With the never-ending support of his amazing parents, and special attention from his teachers at school, this little boy decided that he was going to use his story to try to help combat bullying.

There's poking fun at each other in a nice and silly way and then there's a constant barrage of vitriolic hate for no reason. While it's heartbreaking to hear that Elwood had to go through so much pain and suffering for something he had no control of, we're happy that this boy came up with his own special solution.

Some people out there will dare accuse Elwood of falling back on surgery instead of "growing a thicker skin," to which anyone's reply should be: "why are you judging a 9-year-old who found a workable solution to a problem he was having? No one was hurt and he feels more confident!"

His mother left a heartfelt Facebook post thanking everyone involved. As Elwood begins a new school year, it's incredible to see how different everything is. He used to cry everyday before school, his mother's soul hurt for the pain he seemed to be going through.

But nowadays this boy has his confidence back and a sense of self-worth that everyone deserves to have in themselves!
