Like many in my generation, I spent more time living with my parents than they expected.
When I first got out of my college dorm, I was able to afford my own small apartment near campus. Unfortunately for everyone, a fender bender ended up forcing me to trade my rent payment for a new car loan, so I packed back up to my mom and dad’s house.
They were welcoming, of course, but it was clear they weren’t super thrilled about it as they had already transformed my old bedroom into a more mature guest room. Now that I’m on my own feet again, though, it’s nice to use that room as it’s meant to be every time I travel back for the holidays or just to visit.
Take a look below to see the many other ways parents are making the most of their newfound empty space after they’ve sent their last little bird away from the nest.
