Mom Defies Principal’s Note About Her Clothes, Shows Up To Daughter’s School In Pajamas

As a child grows up, he or she will learn habits (both good and bad) from parents. Moms and dads must set a good example for their children if they want them to be well-adjusted, poised, and functioning individuals in society.

But those "good habits" aren't set in stone. Parents have different definitions regarding these good and bad habits, so anything can be up for debate!

Educators also have a say in a child's education over the course of many years. Teachers and even principals, like Kate Chisholm, know they have a huge responsibility to teach kids at a young age what is considered to be appropriate attire.

That's probably why she sent a letter to the parents of the children attending Skerne Park Academy in the U.K. She noticed that parents tend to drop off their children in pajamas — some even attending school functions and meetings in their sleepwear. Thinking that this sets a horrible example for students, she sent the letter in hopes for a positive response.

While many parents complied with the instructions, one mom stuck to her guns, and dropped off her daughter in her pajamas.

Skerne Park Academy's Principle Kate Chisholm was appalled by parents' attire while dropping their children off at school, and also while attending school functions. To her, wearing pajamas seemed to be setting a bad example for the kids.

So she decided to send out a letter to all the families, asking them to put more consideration into their clothing choices.

She writes, "I have noticed that there has been an increasing tendency for parents to escort children to and from school while  still wearing their pajamas and, on occasion, even slippers. Could I please ask that when you are escorting your children, you take the time to dress appropriately in day wear that is suitable for the weather conditions? While this may seem to some to be a minor point, I am sure you will agree that it is important for us all to set our children a good example about what is appropriate and acceptable in all aspects of life — not only from the point of view of their safety and general well-being, but also as preparation for their own adult life. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to raise our children's aspirations."

However, one parent wasn't totally on board with the teacher's complaint.

Karen Routh unapologetically wore bright red pajamas while dropping her daughter off at school.

She doesn't agree with the teacher's letter, saying it's not her place to tell parents what and what not to do. And if a parent is running late, then who is to say that he or she can't leave home in their pajamas?

The letter has gone viral, and parents are deciding on whose side they fall on. Who do you agree with?
