Mama Elephant Races To Save 1-Hour-Old Baby After He Tumbles Down A Hill

You might not think the word "fast" when you think about elephants, but they actually run 15 miles per hour!

If they need to, an elephant can haul some butt! But if they're not required to run, they're going to take their time walking around.

This mama elephant rushed into action when her little one was in danger. Thank goodness for her fast reaction!

At Djuma Private Game Reserve in South Africa's Kruger National Park, one baby elephant — who was estimated to be an hour old at the time of the video — was caught on camera falling down a hill.

He'd been trying to keep up with his mama and the rest of the herd when he lost his balance and fell. He looked a little hopeless, but thankfully that wasn't the case.

His mama and the rest of the elders in the herd hurried to the rescue. One of the safari guides captured the entire thing on video, as the young elephant had only just stood for the first time before falling over!

In the video, you can see all of the concerned elephants tending to this young one as they scoop him up with their trunks. Afterward, he's able to balance a bit better on his feet, and they continue on to their destination!
