When we adopt our pets, that's us saying we will love and protect them forever.
And that's usually what we end up doing. Whether it's making sure they don't run away and get themselves into trouble, making sure they have something to eat and somewhere to sleep, or simply cuddling them when they're sick.
Because we all know TLC is all we need after a doctor's appointment.
But when you think about it, it's heartbreaking that so many wild or abandoned animals don't have that kind of protection.
Sure, most wild animals learn and adapt to the world outside of homes and houses. But they still can get themselves hurt or into trouble without someone there to save them or help them heal.
When we hear about these animals in need we all get a little sad inside, and might even hug our furry friends a little tighter that day.
Though this footage starts out bleak, it ends with a beautiful turnaround.
This 4-year-old panda somehow got himself trapped near a dam and the dangerously flowing Zheng He River.
If he had fallen, he would not have made it. So once the dam workers noticed him in the security footage, they decided to risk their lives to save his.
