12-Year-Old Who Lost His Legs To Meningitis Tears Up When Surprised By His 2 Favorite Athletes

Everyone has good and bad in their life, but sometimes we take the positives for granted and focus on the negatives.

Thankfully, when we have those bad days, we have people like Deven Jackson to look up to and remind us of how lucky we are.

When he was just 9 years old, Deven's mother, Michelle, noticed that her son wasn't feeling well, but simply chalked it up to a bad case of strep. What she didn't know was that day would be one that would change the course of their family's lives forever.

Deven suddenly stopped making sense when he spoke and couldn't even walk. Michelle took him to the pediatrician and was immediately directed to Penn State Children's Hospital, where Deven was diagnosed with a severe case of meningitis, which ended up taking his legs from him.

He went from an active football player to a boy who needed to learn how to walk again, with legs that weren't his own.

The best part of it all is that he did learn how to walk again, and he learned how to run again. He got back on the football field and ignored his setbacks.

Now that Deven is a growing 12-year-old boy, they've hit another bump in the road, which has meant more surgeries.

Oddly enough, he's not letting that get him down, and the New York Giants football team won't let him forget just how special he is either.
