If you're the parent of a teenager nowadays, you know that keeping an eye on him or her can be rough.
Technology has undoubtedly made it harder for parents to know what their kids are really up to, what they're doing online, who they're talking to, and what kind of behavior they engage in.
But it's not just the secrecy behind their activities that's worrisome, but how they communicate as well. As many parents are finding out, they don't even use words anymore!
The use of acronyms to communicate via text message, for example, is nothing new. But new acronyms are popping up, and parents have no idea what they stand for — which is utterly terrifying
Some of these acronyms are very suggestive, but outwardly give no indication of any wrongdoing. But it's what happens off social media that can be dangerous.
Parents are trying to spread the word quickly about these weird words so misbehaving teens can be kept out of any major trouble.
While it's a good idea to keep an eye on your children, child psychologists encourage moms and dads to be honest with their kids about monitoring their activity, both online and outside. And if you need to take away their computers, cell phones, and other gadgets as punishment, kids are more likely to behave!
