People Have A Lot To Say About Ivanka Trump’s Father’s Day Post

Of course, a lot of people take to social media to recognize and celebrate their dads on Father’s Day. But when your dad is President Donald Trump, things can get messy—as evidenced by Ivanka Trump’s Father’s Day post this year.

In a post on X, Ivanka wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to fathers everywhere,” and people really said, “Except yours.”

The post caused some of the president’s creepy comments to resurface.

Donald’s comments about his own daughter have raised concerns over the years, and after Ivanka included a photo of him in her Father’s Day post, people started sharing some of them again.

Several people decided to remind Ivanka of the time when her dad went on TV and joked about dating her (In 2006, during an appearance on The View, the president said, “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”)

Critics also pointed to how, in 2004, Donald told Howard Stern that it was OK to refer to his daughter Ivanka as “a piece of a–.”

Unfortunately, there’s quite a bit more. After Ivanka posted about Father’s Day, Republicans against Trump shared a clip from a 2013 appearance on The Wendy Williams Show. At the time, Wendy Williams asked the father-daughter duo to share their favorite thing that they have in common. After Ivanka gave a normal answer (“either real estate or golf),” her dad said, “Well, I was going to say sex, but I can’t relate that to her.”

So, yeah, people weren’t exactly eager to celebrate Ivanka’s father.

Ivanka managed to get some positive comments on her post. Presumably, she has a decent number of followers who actually support the current president. However, many of the comments were quite negative, and people clearly thought Ivanka should’ve been more embarrassed.

“That’s so cringe, girl,” one critic wrote in response to Ivanka’s post, while someone else said, “Eww gross.” Another critic asserted, “I would be ashamed to have one like that.”

Some critics made note of the kinds of dads they would be celebrating on Father’s Day — and hers was not included. “Happy Father’s Day to all those dads whose names don’t appear in the Epstein files…” a commenter said.

Someone else added, “Happy Father’s Day to good fathers everywhere who protect children, not harm them. Tell your father to RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!!”

“Your father is a notorious conman,” another person argued. And while some critics could sort of agree with Ivanka’s message of recognizing “fathers everywhere,” they still made exceptions for her dad. “Except yours,” one commenter responded. “Pieces of s— shouldn’t be celebrated.”

Many of Ivanka’s recent posts have sparked similar backlash.

In spite of her decision to stay out of politics during her dad’s second term, Ivanka has still shared updates about her life on social media, and some of those updates are very much related to her dad’s presidency. At the end of April, she attended the White House State Dinner during King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit. When she posted about the “magical night” she had there, people accused her of being out of touch and flaunting her privilege.

She also posted about attending UFC Freedom 250, and needless to say, critics weren’t happy about it. Still, the onslaught of negative comments clearly didn’t stop her from publicly wishing her dad a happy Father’s Day.
