Woman Is Abducted While Traveling Far From Home, Manages To Secretly Send Chilling Texts To Dad

Mary Kate Heys, a 20-year-old from the U.K., was backpacking through Australia when she was allegedly kidnapped by a man and driven 50 miles from where she was staying.

Heys said she was staying at a hostel in Queensland where she met a 22-year-old Swedish man. He woke her early on the morning of December 12, 2016, in what Heys describes as a manic state. He told her they needed to get away from the aliens, and said she needed to come with him.

She went with the man because she was concerned he was on drugs and wanted to help him, but once she was in his car, she started fearing for her own safety.

During the drive, Heys says she convinced the man to pull over at a gas station to let her get a drink. Inside, she told the woman at the cash register that she was being held against her will and asked her to call police.

Heys then got back in the car, and her captor continued driving up the coast. An hour later, there was still no sign of police, so the young woman texted her dad back in the U.K.

"Dad are you awake?" she wrote. Her father responded quickly, writing, "Yeah it's only seven at night. Are you ok."

Upon getting his response, Heys used her phone's GPS to send her location to her father and told him, "I need you to cal [sic] the Australian police."

She told her dad not to worry, but she knew she was making every parent's worst nightmare a reality for him. "I've been taken by a man… please hurry," she wrote to him. She continued sending him her location so that the police could track the car.

Eventually, the police were able to find Heys, and they safely rescued her from her alleged abductor. Heys was so grateful to be safe that she decided not to press charges against the man.
