Else Schmidt and Luke Munsterteiger had been dating for almost a year when Luke realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Else.
Else and Luke live in Pueblo, CO, near where they attended college. Else is a social worker at a hospice and home health care center, and Luke is an aspiring coach. He studied physical education and athletic coaching at Bethel University, and Else studied social work at Colorado State University–Pueblo.
Both Else and Luke knew their relationship was something special, and they loved spending time together. They attended events from weddings to football games, and always had an amazing time.
Recently, Luke purchased an engagement ring for Else, but he knew he wanted to make the proposal really special. So he thought about some of Else's favorite things, and he decided to pop the question using ice cream.
Luke told Else he needed to stop by the grocery store to pick up a few items, so Else went along with him.
At the store, they found themselves in the ice cream aisle, where Else always grabs a pint of Talenti Gelato (she loves it so much she even used it to celebrate being done with final exams).
Else picked up a container of her favorite flavor, fudge brownie. Then Luke told her to look at the label.
Under normal circumstances the container would have said "Talenti Fudge Brownie Gelato." But that day it was labeled "Else, will you marry me?"
Luke held out the beautiful engagement ring he'd picked out, and Else said yes — to both the ring and the ice cream.
It might seem strange for a couple to get engaged in the frozen foods aisle of a grocery store, but for this couple it was just perfect.
