Thrift Store Owners Get ‘Titanic’ Tape Donation, But The Tape Inside Isn’t ‘Titanic’

Debbie Jones and Robbin Parsley are used to seeing strange items at their thrift store, The Olde Lighthouse Shoppe. There’s really nothing that can surprise them anymore.

But when they were looking through a stack of VHS tapes that had recently been donated, they couldn’t believe that the tape inside a “Titanic” box was not actually the movie, but a family heirloom that was put in the wrong spot.

The two women knew that when they saw “Mom and Dad’s Golden Anniversary” written on the tape that they couldn’t keep it and had to find the owner.

So the two business owners posted a video to their Facebook page saying they had found the tape and they were looking for the owner.

A few days later, Laura Sewell heard about the video and realized that they tape that they had found was of her grandparents. She said she remembered putting it in the “Titanic” sleeve but then the tape was stolen from her shed a year later.

“It starts with my grandma and grandpa, when they were little with baby pictures, and then it shows them growing up,” Laura said. “It shows their wedding picture and then it starts with the four kids and then it branches off to their families.”

And so Robbin and Debbie were happy to return the tape to the right family where it will definitely be watched all over again.
