Mom Can’t Afford To Buy Daughter A Pony, So She Tries Putting Saddle On Dairy Cow Instead

We don't always get what we want, but sometimes the next best thing is exactly what we need. Just ask this young woman and her dairy cow.

According to The Guardian, Hannah Simpson is a New Zealand teen who wanted a pony for her birthday. After her mother rejected the idea, her brother came up with a bright alternative: Hannah should ride a dairy cow.

"It was a dare from my brother to jump on and she seemed OK with it, so we kept going," the birthday girl said.

She hopped on the back of Lilac, one of her farm's 6-month-old calves, and began a new and very unexpected adventure, making a new best friend in the process.

Hannah had always wanted a pony, but when her brother dared her to hop on the back of a baby dairy cow named Lilac, she gained a new appreciation for the calf.

Hannah's farm had a few cows roaming about, but Lilac definitely became her favorite. She was the only heifer that would allow Hannah to ride her, so the young girl began to domesticate her in the art of riding.

With Hannah's training, Lilac learned to jump  over obstacles up to 1.4 meters high.

Hannah told The Guardian,"We started her off with stepping over logs, and it just got bigger and bigger.” The duo grew together, taking on larger obstacles with time.

Hannah tried placing a saddle on Lilac for an easier ride, but it just wasn't the cow's cup of tea. Ever since, Hannah has continued to ride Lilac bareback, through both training and leisure.

Although Hannah eventually received a horse, she still opted to ride her cow.

There's really nothing like a girl's love for her cow.
