Pregnant Mom Is Alone When She Gives Birth On Bathroom Floor, Then Realizes Baby Is Turning Blue

Katherine Leonard was alone at home when she suddenly went into labor and gave birth on her bathroom floor. Holding the baby in her arms, she called 911 for assistance, and the 911 responder dispatched police officers and EMTs to rush to Katherine's aid.

While on the phone with 911, Katherine realized her newborn baby wasn't breathing. The 911 dispatcher tried to talk her through next steps, but before Katherine could do anything, police officers Steven Golub and Devin Humphreys were at her side.

As soon as Steven and Devin arrived, they noticed that the baby was turning blue — its airway was obstructed, and if they waited for EMTs to arrive, it might be too late.

Devin took the baby from Katherine's arms and told her partner to find a turkey baster, or anything else with suction. Steven ran through the house searching, until he found a medicine dropper, which he gave to Devin.

She immediately started using the dropper to clear the baby's nose, mouth, and throat of fluid. While she was doing so, the baby bit her on the finger — a great sign that she would be okay.

After that, the baby began making tiny cries, so Devin continued clearing her airways until EMTs arrived to take both Katherine and the baby to the hospital.

Doctors expect that Katherine and the baby will both be okay — a true miracle. If it weren't for these quick-thinking police officers, Katherine's baby may not have made it.
