Not all animal rescues go exactly as planned. For this man who was trying to save a baby swan that had gotten stuck in a fence, his mission grew to be a lot more difficult than he'd initially expected.
The man in the red jacket, Simon, approached two swans on a wooden dock beside a body of water. His first step was to shoo away the father swan, who was trying to protect his baby from everyone, even though the tiny bird desperately needed help.
If you listen closely to the video below, posted on February 8, 2017, you'll hear the baby chirping for help in the background.
The father swan grew angry, seeing some strange man getting so close to his child. He hopped back up onto the deck and slowly walked up to Simon from behind, his wings spread far apart in a gesture of dominance.
The swan's wings flapped at Simon as he was trying to rescue the trapped baby bird.
"Alright, don't do that!" Simon yelled. "Don't be silly."
He shooed the father swan away once more as he continued to wriggle the little bird free from the fence. The swan stood there for a moment, calculating his next move. His wings were still extended and he was ready to make a move. He hissed at Simon and came up from behind again, only to lose his balance and plop back into the water.
The angry swan just wanted his son back and didn't realize that Simon was there to help make that happen.
