Police Chief Grieves Loss Of Officer, Then Little Boy Gives Handwritten Note Offering His Help

After a police officer named Jason Weiland passed away on duty, the police department of Wausau, Wisconsin, was stricken with grief. Luckily, an extraordinary 7-year-old helped remind them that everything would be OK.

A youngster named Brady Duke heard of the beloved officer's recent death and immediately knew he wanted to help.

In the video below, posted on March 28, 2017, little Brady explains: "I knew I had to do something because their police brother died." But what could a 7-year-old boy do in a situation like this?

Brady made his way to the police department with a handwritten note and a very special gift for his community heroes.

The officers read his heartfelt note, which explained that Brady felt proud of the department and was very sorry for their loss. He offered his help at the end of the letter. Then he offered them his Nintendo Wii gaming system, his favorite thing in the world, saying he knows the policemen need it more than he does as they go through their tough time.

Deputy Chief Ben Bliven is thankful for the little boy's gift. "We're encouraging our officers to come in and take a break and play some video games and kind of de-stress a little bit," he says.

The Wii is going to good use at the station — it's already bringing smiles back to the officers' faces, all thanks to Brady's generous donation in a time of need.
