Natalie Ripley's boyfriend decided a vacation in Thailand was the perfect opportunity to propose to her. He waited until they were on a boat, riding the waves out on the clear blue ocean.
Now, proposals happen every day in many different ways, so I can understand the need to be as spontaneous and original as possible. But maybe pranking your girlfriend during one of the most important moments of her life isn't exactly the best course of action!
Luckily for Natalie's boyfriend, he didn't wait long to "redeem" himself, and it all worked out in the end!
The video below starts off with the couple riding the boat, surrounded by a couple of friends and other tourists in the water. He had just revealed the ring and had gotten down on one knee.
Natalie was overcome with emotion, laughing ecstatically.
Her boyfriend went to put the ring on her finger, when suddenly, he dropped it into the ocean. Natalie, still stunned by what happened, just looked up at him in shock.
He was staring off into the water while two men jumped in after the ring.
Natalie looked at her boyfriend for some kind of answer, but then he quickly turned to the camera and showed off the real engagement ring!
The other was just a fake, used to pull off the prank!
Natalie, obviously relieved, went back to laughing, but not before she gave him a playful shove.
Guess a little fun during a proposal is OK… as long as you still have a ring!
