Getting into college is a huge milestone in anyone's life, but it is especially for high school senior Patrick Eriom.
The teen and his family moved to the United States from Nigeria seven years ago, and he's always dreamed of going to college. As the time to start thinking about applying to schools drew nearer, Patrick selected his top choice: Baylor University.
The only problem was that Baylor was the only place he decided to apply. In his heart, he believed that it was "Baylor or nothing" when it came to achieving his dream of becoming a doctor.
When the school's response arrived in the mail, his family caught his emotional reaction on camera.
In the clip, he reads the letter for a few heart-stopping seconds before he leaps with joy, yelling, "Mommy" and "I'm going to Baylor!" The excited teen can barely contain his joy and disbelief. In a touching moment of recognition of his mom's hard work, he bends down to give her a long hug.
He told WKTX, "I opened up the green envelope and I saw the most amazing thing of my life."
He also says that he knew Baylor was the place for him without even visiting the campus because it is the one place he believes he can get a good education and also practice and develop his faith freely.
