Toddler Starts Vomiting At Night, Then Mom Remembers The Red Seeds In His Hand

When I was a child, I was curious about everything. I wanted to feel and touch and taste rather than just look. Anything I was curious about, I wanted to put in my mouth, including plants!

This isn't uncommon behavior, but one mom is warning other parents that it can lead to disastrous consequences.

If Brittany Gaudino hadn't seen the bright red seeds in her 2-year-old son's hand, she would not have known that they were the reason he started vomiting that night.

They were the seeds of the rosary pea plant, and the seeds are toxic if ingested. When she saw her kids playing with them in the family's yard, she immediately asked if they had swallowed any. They said no, but her son's reaction said otherwise.

Her son survived the poisoning, but the mom is now warning others about the plant, which she found all over her property. She now plans to remove every rosary pea plant she finds.

The seeds are bright red and have black tips. They have a waterproof and waxy shell, and it is the inside that is considered potentially harmful.

Experts are also encouraging homeowners to know the plants that grow in their yards, including weeds. You never know what kind of danger can be lurking right in your backyard!
