Here Are The Ultimate Finger Foods To Serve At Your Next Game Night

Game night is a fun and relatively inexpensive activity for people of all ages. Whether you're playing poker, or something with lower stakes like scrabble, some (hopefully) friendly competition is a great way to get people together.

Of course, acting out a few rounds of charades works up quite the appetite. Even though your guests would likely be more than happy with some freezer-package finger foods, there are other options that are almost as easy and far more delicious.

You don't have to be the ultimate hostess to be able to whip up these tasty goat cheese and chive wontons with red chili dipping sauce. The Hostess Next Door, Vanessa Cantave, is here to show you exactly how to make them, leaving the guess work for the gaming table.

These particular wontons will remind you of crab rangoon from your local Chinese takeout. However, as with everything homemade, these will taste that much better, not to mention how impressed your guests will be when you reveal that they were a DIY job.

In fact, we won't even blame you for taking all of the credit when guests inevitably ask where you got the delicious idea.

See below for this easy recipe, and watch Chef Vanessa's demos of deviled eggs with bacon as well as cheeseburger spring rolls that will make the snack table even more popular than the gaming table.

__Goat Cheese and Chive Wontons with Red Chili Dipping Sauce __

Cook Time: 10 minutes
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • water
  • sugar
  • unseasoned rice vinegar
  • soy sauce
  • sambal
  • goat cheese, crumbled
  • chives, chopped
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • square wonton wrappers
  • vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. For the sauce: Bring water and sugar to a boil in a small saucepan over moderate heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in rice vinegar, salt, and sambal. Cool sauce, then chill, covered, at least 1 hour.
  3. For the wontons: In a small bowl, mix goat cheese, chives, and black pepper. Lay out wonton wrappers and fill each with a heaping teaspoon full of filling.
  4. Brush 2 of the 4 edges with water and bring unbrushed edges over filling to seal tightly. Repeat with remaining wontons.
  5. Heat about 1/4-inch deep amount of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully fry wontons for about 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain on a paper towel. Serve immediately with red chili dipping sauce.
