If you were a kid growing up in the '90s, it’s likely you remember the first moment you set your eyes on Alicia Silverstone. Her iconic portrayal of Cher Horowitz in everyone’s favorite coming-of-age teen comedy, Clueless, completely took the world by storm.
Alicia was beautiful and full of personality and spunk, and most people were just totally enamored with her the moment she stepped into the spotlight.
At just 3 years old, Alicia found herself falling in love with the arts after taking in several plays and musicals while visiting London, England. She then began to study all sorts of things that would help her on her acting journey, including ballet and modeling.
She was further introduced into the acting and modeling world after her father, real estate investor Monty Silverstone, took photos of a 6-year-old Alicia to give to modeling agencies. There has been much speculation and talk about these infamous photos and their inappropriate nature for years.
From modeling, she made the transition to commercials and even had a small role in ABC’s The Wonder Years. Her big movie break came when she starred in Alan Shapiro’s dark psychological thriller, The Crush.
Even though this film was considered Alicia’s big debut in Hollywood, the storyline, which involves a kiss between Alicia’s 14-year-old character and an adult male double her age, was considered to be creepy and inappropriate.
Over the years, a number of other things about the making of this film and where the storyline actually originated from were made public, and what was revealed was quite shocking.
