After a high-profile investigation, Sean “Diddy” Combs was acquitted of the more serious charges he faced: racketeering and sex trafficking. However, he was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs is still trying to fight these charges, multiple outlets reported on July 31, 2025. But if his attempts to overturn the convictions prove unsuccessful, Combs might remain largely unaffected, as President Donald Trump is reportedly “seriously considering” pardoning him.
On July 29, Deadline reported that “an administration source” said Trump might really pardon Diddy. He had entertained the possibility in the past, even prior to the conclusion of Combs’ trial. “I would certainly look at the facts if I think somebody was mistreated, whether they like me or don’t like me,” Trump said in May. “It wouldn’t have any impact on me.”
Trump added that Combs “used to really like” him a lot before he got involved in politics. Now, he’s apparently not so sure how the music mogul feels about him. Things he’s read have made him feel like “that relationship busted up.”

Meanwhile, Combs filed a motion to challenge his prostitution charges on July 30, per The New York Times. His lawyers are making the argument that his “freak-offs” were not “prostitution.” Instead, they claim that he made “amateur pornography” protected by the First Amendment and “at most, paid to engage in voyeurism as part of a ‘swingers’ lifestyle.”
Combs’ sentencing is scheduled for October 3. Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly has already spoken out against Trump’s hypothetical pardon. She believes Combs “doesn’t deserve any of Trump’s mercy.”
On The Megyn Kelly Show, she said, “We all saw the videotape of him beating the hell out of Cassandra Ventura. But there was so much more testimony about the other women he repeatedly beat all the way up to when he was arrested.”
She’s also worried that the decision would do nothing to attract woman voters. “The GOP is already struggling with female voters and they’re not all lefties,” she said. “There are young, conservative women who aren’t in love with Trump or MAGA. And this will not help.”
