A recent scandal on Good Morning America might make a great season of Apple TV’s The Morning Show. The recent revelation that GMA3 cohosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were having an affair shocked the nation, as both were married, Amy to actor Andrew Shue and T.J. to attorney Marilee Fiebig. Both Amy and T.J. were fired because of their relationship. Their marriages also ended.
As a result of their termination, both received severance packages from ABC. Page Six is reporting that Amy’s settlement number is bigger than T.J.’s.
While exact details of the new couple's deals will probably never see the light of day, it is not unexpected that Amy received more money. The reason is pretty simple to explain. “Amy’s been at ABC a lot longer and has a much bigger contract [than T.J.],” a source close to the situation explained.
Amy was a more high-profile anchor at ABC and had a longer tenure. Amy began working at ABC in 2012. T.J. began working there in 2014.
Amy was a go-getter. She not only cohosted GMA3 with TJ but also appeared on 20/20. Amy “worked really hard to get” that gig.
Another source speculates that Amy's and T.J.’s settlements were simply a buyout of their remaining contracts and nothing more. They said, “It’s possible they could have gotten paid slightly more to sign an NDA — and to keep the peace.”
Amy and T.J. appear to be content with their settlements and happy in their relationship. Many around them are puzzled by their actions. They wonder, “Was it worth it?”
The couple’s unemployed status has left them with some free time. They took a recent trip to Los Angeles to get out of town and celebrate. According to a source, they are now “back in New York, laying low.”
T.J. was recently seen buying a $650 ring and other jewelry from Tiffany's. Amy’s 50th birthday was on February 6, so it is fair to speculate that the ring was for her. It was a milestone birthday, after all.
Amy and T.J.’s relationship impacts not only their jobs but their extended families. Amy was a stepmother to Andrew’s three sons.
