Angela Simmons was a fun-loving 19-year-old who considered herself to be a free spirit. She loved life and continually surrounded herself with people who made her life interesting.
When she turned 19, she decided to move out of her parents’ house, as they were quite strict and she wanted more freedom.
With her new and exciting lifestyle, Angela started hitting the town for thrilling dance nights with friends. One night when she was at a club, she met a caring young man named Richard. The pair really hit it off and soon began dating.
A few months into their relationship, Angela started to feel really sick. She found herself fighting constant nausea and fatigue. When she finally went to the doctor’s office for an exam, it was discovered that she was pregnant.
Because she was quite young and hadn’t planned this pregnancy, Angela thought about having an abortion, but ultimately, she decided that with Richard’s love and support, they could do this together.
In a few short months, Angela gave birth to a baby girl named Emma. Richard was present and supportive during labor, and even though Emma was born with a low birth weight, things seemed to be going smoothly for this new little family.

A few weeks after entering this world, however, Emma started crying uncontrollably and wouldn’t stop. Angela thought maybe it was due to a milk allergy, but when she noticed Emma’s stomach swelling at an alarming rate, she began to feel very concerned.
