Seth Rogen Believes ‘40% Of Cases’ Of Alzheimer’s Are Preventable With Five Healthy Habits

Bill Gates released the first episode of his new podcast last Thursday. Unconfuse Me with Bill Gates is meant to discuss topics that the Microsoft founder wants to learn more about, especially topics that he's confused on.

In his first episode, Bill welcomed guests Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller on to talk about Alzheimer's, among other things.

Alzheimer's disease took the lives of both Lauren's mother and Bill's father. The 67-year-old host invited the couple to share how they use their celebrity status and comedy to bring awareness about the disease.

“Alzheimer's and comedy aren't the most obvious combination, so therefore it was like, well we want people to have fun and we want them to give us their money, but also it's about Alzheimer's,” Lauren said, as she spoke about creating the Hilarity for Charity. “So you know, that was sort of a delicate walk just figuring out how to do it.”

Their organization, Hilarity for Charity, supports families and caregivers of people with Alzheimer's, all while educating people about caring for their brain health and giving people space to laugh about their experiences.

"I think it's all up against this massive societal shift that needs to happen as far as how Alzheimer's is spoken about, how it is dealt with, and like the amount of money it receives in comparison to like cancer and things like that, which are less costly, more treatable and exactly as deadly,” Seth shared. “I think the only logical answer is that people just don't like talking or thinking about Alzheimer's because it scares them."
