Funny man Bob Saget died in January 2022 at age 65. His cause of death was determined to be head trauma. Two years later, his widow Kelly Rizzo began a relationship with actor Breckin Meyer. Most people have been extremely supportive of her decision, but Kelly took to TikTok to address the few that have not.
Kelly said she doesn’t need anyone’s judgment. Grief is not a linear process and there is no right way to mourn your loved one. She is thankful for all the support she has received and will always love Bob.
Kelly made her TikTok post on Sunday, March 10, 2024. She stated that losing a loved one looks different for everyone. There is no right way to mourn. "Unless you are a widow or a widower, you truly have absolutely no place and no right to comment on this, because you do not know what it's like,” she stated.
Kelly’s TikTok was a response to another user who was defending her. Kelly felt the need to address this. Her video was around five minutes long.

“The vast, vast, vast majority of all of the comments and feedback and support and everything I've gotten since Bob passed, 99% has been positive and lovely and wonderful,” she began. "But there are some people who just love to talk. You just don't understand the incredibly complex and difficult and dynamic thoughts and feelings that come up during this entire process.”
Kelly did not make the decision to start dating again overnight. It can take months or years even to get to a place where dating is even an option mentally. “You feel guilty, you feel shamed, you feel horrible, but yet you also feel lonely, and so you wanna do it,” she explained. “At some point, when it crosses your mind to even think about starting to date again, [you have] those thoughts.”
One of the things that helped Kelly start dating again was having the support of Bob’s daughters and friends. Bob shared Jennifer, 31, Lara, 34, and Aubrey, 36 with ex-wife Sherri Kramer. Even with their support, she was still conflicted about it. "They're telling you it's OK, but yet you still feel really weird about it," she stated. "In my situation, it was Bob's daughters, Bob's friends. They were saying, 'It's OK.' So I'm like, 'OK, it must be OK.' But you still need to feel OK with it and [have] peace with it in your heart."
Kelly opened up about when she felt comfortable dating again but stressed it is different for everyone. “I didn't personally get to that point until well after a year after Bob had passed,” she explained. “And then I didn't start dating until 18 months or so after Bob passed.”
Kelly and Breckin began dating at the beginning of 2024. They made their first public appearance together as a couple at Steven Tyler’s annual Grammy Awards viewing party on February 4, 2024. Kelly again stressed that everyone’s timeline is unique to their own situation.
"Sometimes men move on just a couple of months after their spouse passes away and sometimes people never do," she stated. "It's not one size fits all, but there is absolutely no room for judgment. You cannot judge whether you've been through the same thing or not, it is not your place to judge because everyone goes through it differently."
Kelly will never forget Bob. He will always take up a big part of her heart. “I'm very fortunate that I was able to find someone who holds space for that and appreciates it and gets it, and is strong enough and confident enough to know that Bob's always gonna be a part of my life,” she concluded.
