Britney Spears and Sam Asghari separated in July 2023. In August, Sam officially filed for divorce. Four months later, in December, Britney took to Instagram to express her feelings about being single.
Britney finds it “weird” being single but is trying to use this time to work on herself. She realized she has gotten into a bad negative self-talk situation and is trying to remedy that. She also shared a memory from her childhood featuring her mom Lynne Spears. The pair are working to fix their tense relationship.
It is always good to assess what is working and what is not going so well in your life. Britney is using this time to do that. “It’s so weird being single … I’ve had a lot of time to really look back with all the good and bad …” she began.
All of this reflection made Britney realize some important things. “I don’t talk to myself that nicely at all … I’m easily manipulated and I wear my heart on my sleeve … But I’m definitely changing all that,” she continued.

Britney made a point to take stock of her life. Her 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021, so she now has the power to live her own life. “I have to make time to stop and look around to re-evaluate myself and say is this good for me ??? I like a routine and I usually do the same thing every day,” she mused.
Britney is bravely forging her own path. “I’m honestly bored but I’m also scared of a lot of things … The way I live my life is mine … I’ve had so many people interfere with that … But to know it’s ok to be selfish with my life and enjoy it is amazing !!!” she wrote.
Britney then went on to share a special memory about her mom. Britney would often go with Lynne to visit the nuns at St. Mary’s Catholic School. She enjoyed the gardens there, which she has recreated for herself at her own home. Perhaps this memory is signaling the reconciliation Lynne and she are working toward.
Lynne recently traveled to Los Angeles to spend time with Britney. This is the second trip Lynne has made recently. Lynne also attended Britney’s 42nd birthday party. Lynne even told TMZ that Britney might come home to Louisiana for the holidays.
According to TMZ, Britney is also working on her relationship with her sister Jamie Lynn. She is even becoming more open to reconnecting with her father, Jamie, whom she largely blamed for the conservatorship. He reportedly recently had a leg amputated due to an infection.
