Jamie was a devoted father to his little girl, Sam. Most weekends, Jamie would take Sam over to his in-law's house so she could spend quality time with her mother and grandparents. Jamie and Sam’s mother tried hard to make their relationship work, but about a year ago, they separated.
Even though Jamie’s ex was the one who initiated the split, Jamie believed that his daughter needed to maintain a strong relationship with her mother and grandmother, Louisa.
One day, after coming home from her grandmother’s house, Jamie noticed that Sam was acting strangely. She seemed withdrawn and unusually quiet. When Jamie tried to engage in conversation and activities with Sam, not much seemed to appeal to her.
