Damar Hamlin Cleared To Return To Football 3 Months After Mid-Game Collapse

Damar Hamlin will be making his return to football. After suffering a cardiac arrest during a game in January, the 25-year-old has now been cleared to return to the NFL.

The Buffalo Bills safety went into cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He collapsed in the first quarter after tackling a receiver.

The receiver, Tee Higgins, lowered his head, which then made contact with Damar's chest. After getting up and taking a couple steps, Damar collapsed onto the ground.

Damar's injury was a shock among the entirety of the sports industry. But his miraculous recovery has instilled hope in many across the world.

Under a post Damar made on Instagram a little while after the incident occurred, many of his fans showed an outpouring of love.

"I needed this photo !!!! Praise the Lord for real. You are a miracle story, a testimony. Your story will be used for something greater for football and for life in general . This recovery is everything right now . I’m so happy @d.ham3 ❤️ ," actress Megan Tandy commented.

The NFL also made a post on its Instagram feed of football players kneeling in prayer.

"Your football family is behind you @d.ham3," the post was captioned.

Damar has been open about his recovery and has shared his thanks for everyone who has supported him along the way. In an Instagram video, he said, "I can't tell you how appreciative I am of all the love, the support, and everything that's just been coming in my way." He added that what happened to him had been a lot to process.

Three specialists unanimously cleared Damar to return to practices. The Buffalo Bills' general manager announced that he'd been cleared to return to all football activities.

“My heart is still in the game,” Damar said during a news conference. “I love the game. It’s something I want to prove to myself — not nobody else.”
