When her daughter joined OnlyFans, Denise Richards felt “upset” — not about what her daughter was doing, but about the backlash she faced. The actress’ daughter Sami, whom she shares with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, joined the platform when she was 18 years old. At the time, Denise admittedly didn’t really know much about OnlyFans, she told People during a recent interview.

Though she had “heard of it,” she didn’t “understand” what OnlyFans was, she explained to the outlet. However, as a parent, the backlash Sami faced worried her more than anything else did. “When I saw that she was getting backlash for owning her sexuality and doing what she wanted to do, it upset me as a mom and also as a woman in business,” Denise told People.
Later, the actress decided that she would join OnlyFans too. However, there was a point when Denise was more skeptical of her daughter’s desire to start an OnlyFans account.
Previously, during an interview with Bustle, Denise described urging her daughter to reconsider her decision at first. “I said, ‘I think you need to really think twice about doing this because there’s a certain perception with it,'” Denise said at the time.

“Then as soon as she joined, it was viral and she got a lot of backlash and I was concerned about that because she’s so young,” she continued. “I’m a grown-a– woman, and I’ve had a lot of stuff over the years [said] about me, good and bad, publicly.”
Initially, when Sami joined OnlyFans, her dad Charlie Sheen said he did not “condone” it. However, after some time passed, he realized that his initial response was “a knee-jerk reaction.” When speaking to Bustle, he said he supported his daughter’s decision.
“She’s doing this, and it can only be a much more successful and pleasant experience with the support of myself, her mom, and others,” he said.
When speaking to People, Sami explained why she decided to join OnlyFans at age 18. “I really wanted to get an apartment and I knew that working at the candy shop I was working at wasn’t going to cut it,” she explained. “So I went to the next best thing and made an OnlyFans.”
