Sometimes, Donald Trump seems to just throw something at the wall, or on social media, and see what sticks. Even if it is a slow day for politics, you can trust him to make a Truth Social post to stir things up and get his name in a headline, because for Trump, he really has nothing to lose. Even if what he says is a total lie.
That’s what some people think after Trump shared a Truth Social post claiming to have had a long Morocco highway in the Sahara Desert named after him. Is it the Donald Trump Super Fun Highway Express? It might as well be, because people are confused about this sudden claim, and many have questioned if there is literally any truth to it.
It’s not clear why Donald Trump thinks the highway was named after him.

In a video that Trump posted on Truth Social, a narrator explains the significance of what many know as the Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway, which is a 655-mile highway that connects Tiznit and Dakhla as an important trade corridor. But the narrator also describes the highway as the President Donald J. Trump Highway. So no, it’s not the Donald Trump Super Fun Highway Express.
Trump wrote in his post, along with the video, “Thank you to Highly Respected Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco — Such a Great Honor! I look forward to traveling the entire length of this Great Highway someday, hopefully soon! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
The narrator in the Truth Social video also cited Mohammed VI’s “visionary leadership,” and the “historic courage” of Trump in working for peace and prosperity in Morocco.” The thing is, no one official has come forward to publicly share that the highway was officially named after Trump at any point. And for that matter, who even created and edited that video?
But that didn’t stop him from rambling on about it and sharing a video about it.

According to Business Insider Africa, the highway was completed in 2025 with a price tag of a whopping $1 billion and it has been totally functional. The idea of the highway is to make trades and the movement of different goods in Europe, Morocco, and West Africa easier and safer. Per Bloomberg, though, no one has officially confirmed that the highway was renamed with Trump’s name officially attached to it.
Trump was called out by critics as a narcissist for the highway claims.
Whether or not Trump’s claims about the highway are even true, it’s hard for some of his critics to believe him. It’s even harder for them to get behind Trump having a highway named after him in a country he doesn’t even run. One user on Reddit commented on a post about the highway and shared that they think Trump is “obsessed” with having things named after him.
“Has anyone ever been this obsessed with naming things after themselves as DT?” They wrote. “It’s a level of narcissism I’m not sure we’ve ever seen. He so badly wants to [be] remembered but he has zero actual accomplishments to his name, other than his family’s real estate business.”
In late 2025, Trump controversially renamed the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts to include his name. Palm Beach International Airport was also renamed for Trump as the President Donald J. Trump International Airport. In a way, it’s very on brand for him.
