These days, there’s not much Donald Trump can say to make his haters change their minds or his dedicated followers change theirs. So when a resurfaced clip showed Trump comparing his daughter Tiffany Trump’s body to that of her mother and Trump’s ex, Marla Maples, it was another eye roll moment that probably won’t result in any serious damage to Trump’s reputation.
But that doesn’t mean people can’t still complain about the nature of Trump’s comments and assessments of his then-toddler daughter’s appearance. In the comments under the clip on TikTok, people called out the president for making comments about a toddler’s body. They also compared the comments to things Trump has said about eldest daughter Ivanka Trump over the years.

In 1994, Robin Leach interviewed Trump and Maples on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. He spoke to the couple about their daughter Tiffany, who was a year old at the time. Leach asked the couple who they believe Tiffany takes after, and Trump quickly made crude jokes about his toddler daughter’s appearance and how she doesn’t yet take after her mom in certain areas.
“Well, I think that she’s got a lot of Marla, she’s a really beautiful baby,” Trump responded. And if he had left it at that, it would have been fine. But he didn’t. “And she’s got Marla’s legs,” Trump added. “We don’t know whether or not she’s got this part yet but time will tell.” At that point, he brought his hands to his chest as if to mime breasts.
In 2016, Daily Show host Trevor Noah shared the clip and added his own commentary. At the time, Trump had been in the running for what would be his first presidency.
Noah said during the segment on The Daily Show, “We know for sure that there’s no female too small for Trump not to reduce her to her body parts. And I don’t even think that Trump was trying to be funny or provocative, it just clearly shows that it’s an impulse for him.”
People shared their disgust with Trump right away.
In the comments under the TikTok clip of the 1994 interview, some people admitted no surprise at Trump’s comments about his toddler daughter from way back when. Others still shared their disgust at his choice of words when speaking about his daughter’s body unprompted. Although Leach did ask what, of Trump and Maples, Tiffany got from them, Leach didn’t ask what the couple’s daughter inherited physically. Trump took it upon himself to take it there.
“Who talks like that about their daughter???” One person commented on the clip.
Another wrote, “He genuinely can’t view human females as anything other than a body, not even his own 1yr old daughter. And my dad and every other male in my life act like it’s so shocking I don’t support him.”
“The fact that so many people let this go on for so long is disturbing,” someone else commented.
“I would be so embarrassed and disgusted if my father spoke about me like this,” another person shared. “Especially how he speaks about Ivanka. Absolutely gross.”
Donald Trump has also made comments about Ivanka Trump over the years.
The clips of Trump making inappropriate comments about Tiffany might be fewer and further in between, but his comments about daughter Ivanka Trump have been exposed for years. He infamously called Ivanka a “piece of ass” on The Howard Stern Show. Trump also joked about dating Ivanka if she weren’t his daughter during a 2006 appearance on The View.
According to The Seattle Times, former Department of Homeland Security official Miles Taylor alleged in his book Blowback that Trump has openly made comments about Ivanka’s body at the White House.
