A 2021 book about the Secret Service has some shocking claims about members of the Trump family, past and present.
Zero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret Service by Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post reporter Carol Leonnig explores different aspects of the Secret Service. In discussing more recent affairs, it discusses two members of the Trump family orbit.

Both Tiffany Trump and Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., are believed to have had "inappropriately — and perhaps dangerously — close" relationships with their security detail. Representatives for Tiffany Trump have already denied the claims, but they're certainly raising some eyebrows.
The Trump family may have had some more scandals going on behind the scenes, if the claims in 2021 book prove true. Zero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret Service by Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post reporter Carol Leonnig examines the different highs and lows of the Secret Service. In the book, the author discusses alleged relationships that occurred between Tiffany Trump and a member of her security detail, as well as Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-wife, Vanessa, and a member of her children's Secret Service team.
Of Vanessa's relationship, Carol says that Don Jr.'s ex-wife "started dating one of the agents who had been assigned to her family."
Carol doesn't provide an exact timeline. Vanessa filed for divorce from Don Jr. in March 2018. Carol notes that the Secret Service member didn't face professional repercussions over the relationship because Vanessa was not a protectee of the agency.
Don Jr. and Vanessa's marriage had been rumored to be troubled long before the Trumps took the White House. It's believed their having additional children healed the marriage for a time before they ultimately decided to go their separate ways.
"Even before all this Trump presidency stuff started, they weren't good and their marriage was strained," a source told People in 2018.
Tiffany found a connection with a Secret Service agent as well, the book claims. It's believed they started spending time together after Tiffany experienced a tough breakup. Higher-ups at the Secret Service became aware of the situation and "became concerned at how close Tiffany appeared to be getting to the tall, dark and handsome agent."
Both Tiffany and the agent in question have refuted claims on any inappropriate relationship. Tiffany's spokesperson noted her "experience with the Secret Service was entirely professional" and that these reports were "nothing more than gossip."
It is believed, however, that the agent became uncomfortable with her behavior and requested a reassignment.
A Secret Service spokesperson has commented on the upcoming book. "The U.S. Secret Service is aware of an upcoming book which re-hashes past challenges the agency overcame and evolved from," the statement reads.
"Now and throughout its 156 year history, the agency's skilled workforce is dedicated to the successful execution of its critical protective and investigative missions."
Since that time, Tiffany has gotten married. She announced her engagement to Michael Boulos, whom she has dated since 2019, on her father's penultimate day in office:
"It has been an honor to celebrate many milestones, historic occasions and create memories with my family here at the White House, none more special than my engagement to my amazing fiancé Michael! Feeling blessed and excited for the next chapter! ❤️."
Donald Trump's children were granted a six-month extension of their Secret Service detail just before he left office in January 2021. That date has since passed, and it seems that for the most part, the family is enjoying time hunkered down in Florida, working on their next steps.
