On what seemed like any other day, Joe pulled up to his mother’s house and immediately noticed a strange car in her driveway as well as two young girls playing in her yard.
Just as he was approaching the front door to go inside, a man came out and Joe asked him what was going on. Without a second thought, the man showed Joe the sale papers to his mother’s home and confirmed that his mom had sold their family home.
Joe’s fiancée, Emily, came up beside him and immediately met his glance with anger and frustration in her eyes. It was at that moment that she told Joe that it was over between them because he didn’t have anything to offer her. Joe found himself so heartbroken and confused as he watched her abruptly walk out of his life.
Out in his mother’s yard, Joe noticed a box with his name on it with an envelope stuck to the side. Left without anything else to do, he decided to read his mother’s letter to him.
Joe’s mom, Norah, began her heartfelt letter to her son by telling him that she had decided to sell their family home when Joe brought Emily home to meet her and she could tell things were getting serious with the couple.

Norah went on to reveal to her son that when Joe brought Emily to live in their home before they were to get married, she overheard her one night talking to someone on the phone about how she was just using them both and couldn’t wait to get rid of the pair so that she could be left with their house.
