Elon Musk Tries To Tell A Funny Story About His Son & It Backfired Pretty Hard

It seems like Elon Musk tried to share a relatable parenting moment online, but, shocker, people do not relate to it. When Elon first told his story about his son ordering milk and cheeseburgers when they went out to eat together, some people thought, Yeah, that’s how kids are. But the more they found out, the more questions they had.

Elon recently responded to an X post about grown men drinking milk. The original post, from The Babylon Bee, read, “Local Man Likes His Coffee Cold, With Milk, Just Like A Little Baby.”

Elon then revealed that his son Saxon always orders milk at restaurants.

In his own post, he wrote, “My son, Saxon, is so based that he would just order milk when we went to dinner in LA. This would always stun the waitstaff, as they had never heard anyone actually order milk!”

His story didn’t end there, though. He continued, “He also unironically ordered a cheeseburger at a very uptight sushi restaurant that doesn’t even allow you to order supplemental soy sauce. When the waiter recovered from this request to reply that they don’t have cheeseburgers, Saxon said ‘Fine, I will have a hamburger.'”

But people had questions about this story.

Like, is it really that weird to order milk, and why does Elon think it’s so hilarious?

Elon has at least 14 kids, and some of them are quite young. Originally, a lot of people assumed Elon’s story was about a young picky eater. But a quick Google search revealed that Elon’s son Saxon is actually 20. “Saxon is 20 by the way,” one Redditor told people in a thread discussing Elon’s post. “I thought to myself,  that’s just what little kids do. Then I found out he’s 20.”

To be fair, we don’t know when this happened, and not much is known about Saxon. Some people were embarrassed on Saxon’s behalf, since his billionaire dad decided to share this story with everyone. Regardless, Elon, the one laughing about this story, is a grown man. The fact that he found it so funny really rubbed people the wrong way.

“Elon here demonstrating that he still hasn’t got the difference between being based and being entitled,” one critic responded to Elon’s post. Others agreed that it’s not “based” or edgy to expect a cheeseburger at a sushi restaurant, or to ask for something that’s clearly not on the menu. “Asking for sugar packets at a bank isn’t original or ‘outside the box,'” someone else pointed out. And another person said, “Going to a sushi restaurant to order a burger is not based, just like going to an American diner and ordering sushi [isn’t].”

Some people blamed Elon for not paying enough attention to his kids.

yes, absolutely, sir. extremely based. tremendous parenting.

It seems like the whole situation could’ve been avoided if Elon had taken his son to a restaurant that actually served food that he likes. One person assumed “Elon took his son to a Sushi restaurant without bothering to know if he liked Sushi.”

And if Elon did know that his son didn’t like sushi, why did he take him to a sushi restaurant in the first place? Someone else said, “So you took your kid to a sushi restaurant knowing he doesn’t eat sushi just to order something they don’t have?”

Others weren’t sure this actually happened.

“This didn’t happen,” one Redditor asserted. “He doesn’t spend time with his children!” Elon doesn’t exactly have a reputation for being a super involved parent. So, to some, the fact that Elon was even able to share this story was shocking. “The most surprising thing about all this is you knowing anything about your son,” another critic commented. It’s also possible, some concluded, that this is an old story and Elon doesn’t know his son that well anymore. So, yeah, maybe not the reaction Elon was hoping for when he decided to share this little anecdote.
