Eric Trump Reveals The Harsh Parenting Style He Says Defined His Childhood

It might be hard for some to imagine that Donald Trump and Ivana Trump took part in parenting their children and didn’t instead rely fully on nannies and family staff. But, according to Eric Trump in an interview with The Telegraph, he grew up with a specific way that both of his parents disciplined and raised him.

And no, apparently, the tactics used by Trump and Ivana did not include pawning their kids, Eric, Ivanka, and Donald Trump Jr., off on childcare professionals. However, you have to expect that nannies were plenty present during the upbringing of all of Trump’s kids in some way. Per Eric, though, the way his late mother raised him helped shape who he became.

Eric Trump called his mom “honest” in her discipline methods.

Middle child Eric explained to The Telegraph that his parents both had very different ways of disciplining him as a child. He said that mom Ivana could be extremely loving toward him or his siblings, but also come at them with coldness that he experienced “all the time” in his youth.

“She was from Czechoslovakia originally. She was, you know, pretty much almost an Olympic skier. You know, if we didn’t have manners, you had two fake nails in your throat and you felt the hand go back and forth across your face,” Eric revealed. But, according to him, that form of discipline “worked” for him and his siblings. “As un-PC as it is today, I can tell you it absolutely worked. She only needed to look at us, right? There was a certain point she only had to look at us where it’s like, OK, you know, she’s serious and it’s coming. We’re about to get it. And we were always great kids.”

He also explained how there was one instance where Ivana refused to miss the Monte Carlo Grand Prix to attend his high school graduation. Per Eric, she said, “No way am I missing the effing Grand Prix. Every effing moron graduates high school.” He then added, “And by the way, I could have graduated MIT with a doctorate degree in neurosciences and by the way, I would have gotten the same thing.”

In the same interview with The Telegraph, Eric opened up about how Trump disciplined him and his siblings. He joked that if they had to “get through that war” with Ivana and go to Trump, things were really bad. However, Trump’s strict behavior with his children came in a different form than Ivana’s.

“He had very very very high expectations for us in terms of manners in terms of grades, in terms of achievements, in terms of never sitting still, not being lazy, fighting for the things that you believe in,” Eric said. “And there were no Ferraris in our family at 16 years old…There were construction sites and sledgehammers.”

Maybe Trump was so strict with Eric in particular because he just doesn’t like him. OK, not really. But if you ask some of MAGA’s critics, they might say that Trump and Eric do not have a solid relationship as a father and son. In a Reddit post about there being an alleged rumor about Trump not even loving his middle child with Ivana, users agreed that they think Trump is incapable of loving any of his kids, including Eric.

As far as the supposed rumor goes, the user who made the Reddit post wrote, “I have no idea where it started and why it’s a meme but it seems to be something that is brought up often and the old man never seems to clarify otherwise.”

“Trump doesn’t love anyone,” someone commented on the post. “People are objects to Trump. His children are no different.”
