Fabio has been an icon for generations. Born Fabio Lanzoni in 1961, he's been a model, actor, and, according to many publications, the "Sexiest Man in the World." With such a long career, it's incredible to think he still looks the way he did years ago.
So what's his secret?
For one, he has a strict routine that'd be tiresome for many of us. According to an interview with Sports Illustrated, Fabio works out well over an hour every day. "I do about an hour, an hour-fifteen of weights. Then I do some cardio. You know, running, or stationary bike," he said. "Sometimes, maybe once a week I go dirt biking. That's an amazing, amazing workout."
But he also has help in other ways. For one, he owns a hyperbaric chamber.
According to an interview with Peoplehe did when he was 62 (he is now 63), Fabio goes so far as to sleep in his own hyperbaric chamber. What's a hyperbaric chamber? Medically, it's used as a quick way to cure carbon monoxide poisoning, since it involves a lot of oxygen. It can also help the human body heal wounds more quickly, and it has been an asset to scuba divers who get "the bends."
The treatment is meant to help speed your body along when it comes to injuries. Some people report feeling better mental clarity after spending time in one. Yet while you can sleep in a chamber like this, not too many people choose to do so. But Fabio has always been different from the pack.
In fact, Fabio credits the chamber for helping him look much younger than a standard 60-something year old man. As he told the publication, it "reverses the aging process." That endorsement alone might inspire you to get one for yourself or to seek similar treatment.
"To see the benefits of HBO therapy, you only need around 2 hours at an absolute atmosphere (ATA) of 1.5 to 3," writes the Hyperbaric Physicians of Georgia.
Fabio is very strict when it comes to his personal maintenance. According to a fan Instagram account, he boasted that he brushed his luxurious hair three times a day, for at least three minutes at a time. "If you want a fab hair like me follow my advice girls and my fellow long-haired dudes!" the caption says.
"Please. Who else can I be, besides Fabio?" he told People, after discussing his personal maintenance requirements. He has a point — at this time, it'd be awfully difficult for him to rebrand. Curious about what Fabio eats? He told Sports Illustrated — and it may be a shock — that he manages to always include a brand he once represented on television.
"It's very simple," he told them. "In the morning I get up, I have my oatmeal, I have, always, an egg white omelet, sometimes with spinach, sometimes with asparagus, sometimes with tomatoes or mushrooms. I cook it with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. I always do. I've been using it for 20 years."
Fabio filmed many commercials with the brand and became one of their most successful campaigns. To know he's still using it in his everyday life just adds to his charm. But he still has lunch and dinner to think about — and as you probably figured, Fabio focuses a lot on healthy proteins.
"For lunch, I normally have cod or sea bass or salmon with some vegetables," he continued. "And at night, the same, usually fish with vegetables. A lot of simple stuff and good, lean protein." The plan seems to work well for the model and actor.
Fabio's final secrets are that he avoids all the bad stuff. He doesn't eat sweets, and he also avoids salt and most caffeinated beverages. "Your body should be treated like a Lamborghini," he once told the OC Register. "Put premium race fuel in it."
Aside from his diet, exercise, and sleep regimen, the next question people probably have for Fabio is about love. After all, he symbolizes romance and has graced the cover of plenty of novels about the subject. What is it like dating Fabio?
He admitted to People that he was in love once, but he ruined it. And it's something he still hasn't fully gotten over. "I treated her badly," he said. "She wanted to settle down, and I was just too wild." But now he's turning another corner, and he's ready to see who else may be out there.
He likes women who have a good sense of humor and prefers someone who isn't tied to social media. He, himself, doesn't have an official account on any of the big social media networks, so it's hard for him to understand the appeal. And finally, the right girl for Fabio needs to enjoy nature.
"She has to be able to be in the middle of nature. She can't be afraid about bugs," he said.
He's also not letting his age get in the way of having a family someday. "There is quantity, but I want quality," he said, in regard to a partner. "I still want to have kids." If his anti-aging techniques work as well as they seem, many people wouldn't even question fatherhood at his age.
But one thing's certain. His endorsement is likely selling a lot more hyperbaric chambers. It may seem quite expensive and make more sense for the rich and famous, but you can't argue with results. And it's definitely working pretty well for Fabio.
