Florence Pugh was part of a Dune: Part Two panel at an event in São Paulo, Brazil, when she got hit in the face by an object that appeared to be thrown by someone in the audience. In a video of the incident, Florence, 27, can be seen posing alongside costars including Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, and Zendaya when an object flies from the audience and hits her in the face, causing her to flinch. She put her hand over where she was hit then bent down to pick up the object. Her costars also appeared to be shocked when they noticed what happened.
“Ow,” Florence reacted. Her costars also looked down at the object and out into the audience after she was hit. The object was thrown at her shortly after she spoke about her experience working on Dune.
“I had an amazing time coming in and just hanging around with these people, let alone actually getting to work with them. Coming in here — the power in this room — is because of that first movie, and we felt that when we went on set every single day. So it feels really, really special being here with the second one," Florence said.

In the sequel to 2021’s Dune, which is set to be released in March 2024, Florence plays Princess Irulan Corrino, a character she described as "quick, wise, intelligent."
What happened to Florence at the event has been happening to other celebrities as well. Harry Styles, Adele, and Cardi B are just a few of the artists who have had things thrown at them on stage. Bebe Rexha was injured during a performance over the summer when she was hit by a phone thrown from the audience. She had to get stitches above her eye because of it.
