One Los Angeles food bank has rallied around striking actors and writers in a moving way. World Harvest is offering free food to those on the picket lines. Kristina Wong, "food bank influencer," posted the announcement on July 16. She shared that she and the food bank's CEO and founder, Glen Curado, came up with a plan together.
" FREE GROCERIES FOR SAG- AFTRA actors and WGA writers until the end of the strike! ," the post started off. "This is a totally real offer to get our union siblings through this historic fight for our livelihoods! Show your SAG-AFTRA or WGA card at World Harvest Food Bank at 3100 Venice Blvd in Los Angeles and Uncle Glen Curado will hook you up with a cart of healthy groceries worth over $300! Call them at (213) 746-2227 for operating hours. They are closed on Sundays."
"You’ll receive a cart of fresh produce and all the staples you need to stay healthy on those picket lines!" she ended the post. Kristina herself has been a SAG member since 2002, but has worked other jobs outside of the entertainment industry to make ends meet.

“There were people today who had tears in their eyes," Kristina shared of the free food offer. "They couldn’t believe how generous this was.” Glen added, "Several people broke down yesterday and started crying and, you know, I’m a crier and so is my whole team, a world of criers. To see the struggle, it’s real. It’s sad that such a great industry that makes millions of dollars can’t even pay somebody a steady income.”
