Gavin Newsom Says Kid Rock Is ‘No Longer Hot’ While Mocking Trump

In case you missed it, Gavin Newsom is using social media to mock President Donald Trump. Lately, the California governor’s press office has shared numerous Trump-like posts. And in a series of posts related to Kid Rock, Newsom’s team has been taking inspiration from Trump’s one-sided beef with Taylor Swift.

In 2024, Trump shared a fake endorsement from Taylor Swift. The image, which read “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump,” was AI-generated. Yet when Trump shared it, he captioned it with, “I accept!” After the AI-generated image was brought to Swift’s attention, she publicly endorsed former vice president Kamala Harris for president.

When questioned about Swift’s endorsement, Trump acted like he didn’t really care about the pop icon. Then, a few days after that, he took to Truth Social to declare, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” A few months later, he posted about Swift again, writing, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'”

Newsom recently did the exact same thing, but with Kid Rock. On August 17, the governor’s press office shared an AI-generated image of Kid Rock that read, “Kid Rock wants you to support Gavin Newsom.” Just like Trump, Newsom’s team captioned the image with, “I ACCEPT!”

Though Newsom’s team was obviously trolling, Kid Rock responded to the post. Via his own X account, Kid Rock shared the image and wrote, “The only support Gavin Newscum will ever get out of me is from DEEZ NUTZ.”

Clearly committed to the bit, Newsom’s team wrote, “I HATE KID ROCK !!!” on August 19. Then, later that day, they took it a step further and said Kid Rock is “no longer hot.”

“HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT SINCE I SAID ‘I HATE KID ROCK’ HE’S NO LONGER ‘HOT?'” the post read. Some have found the governor’s Trump-inspired posts amusing, while others remain confused. Several people appreciated the reference to Trump’s posts about Taylor Swift, but argued that there was a key difference: Kid Rock was “never hot.”
