Conan O’Brien Forgets That Harrison Ford Was In The ‘Star Wars’ Movies: ‘News To Me’

Don’t cross veteran actor Harrison Ford. The man has played Indiana Jones and Han Solo. One of whom did the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs but apparently that was not memorable to podcast host Conan O’Brien. When Harrison appeared on Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend he had to have notes to remind him of this fact.

Harrison saw this and couldn’t resist giving Conan a hard time. The pair historically have loved verbally sparring with each other, all in good fun. It makes for an entertaining listen.

The notes came up because Conan pointed them out. He and Harrison began talking about Harrison’s dad. “I refer you to this piece of paper right here that says, ‘Born and raised in Chicago to an Irish/German father,’” Conan stated.

“Well, if that’s [the] quality of your research, and I imagine it is because right there it says ‘Harrison Ford’ and then you had to write down, ‘Han Solo.’ You can’t [expletive] remember that?” Harrison joked. This was too good not to tease Conan about.

Conan is never one to back down from a bit. He rolled with Harrison’s improv scenario, adding his own “yes and” moment. “No I can’t. I can’t remember Han Solo,” he said in a deadpan tone.

“I wrote [it] down because I heard that you were in some of the Star Wars films and this was news to me because I’ve seen those films and I don’t exactly think you ‘pop,’” Conan continued. “I’m sorry, but I mean, I remember Chewbacca, I remember the bad guy with the black helmet and then there’s some people.” How blasphemous.

Harrison replied: “How come you’re not still on television?” Even Conan thought that was pretty funny. “I think it’s quite obvious why I’m not still on television,” Conan said in between laughs.

Harrison is making his press rounds to promote the final Indiana Jones film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. In this film, directed by James Mangold, Indy works to recover Archimedes' Dial with his goddaughter. The aging archaeology professor has his work cut out for him.

Conan and Harrison seem to genuinely enjoy each other’s company. “You came on my show many, many times, on the Late Night show. And over the years people would say, ‘Who’s one of your favorite guests?’ And I would say, ‘Harrison Ford, because he’s so goddamn funny,’” Conan revealed on the same episode.

“You are so hilariously funny and you tossed me around like a rag doll, verbally, on these shows and they’re some of my favorite segments of all time,” Conan gushed. “You are a hilarious man and I’ve always loved being around you.”
