Sometimes, there are animals who come into our lives, who even though they need a little extra care and consideration, still end up giving us back so much in the end.
This video posted by GeoBeats Animals shares the story of a special needs cat named Otter who was rejected by his mother and the rescue mom who fell in love and ended up bringing him into her home.
A woman named Caroline started Baby Kitten Rescue in 2021 with a focus on neonatal critical care and special needs kitten rescue. The organization has 26 individuals who foster kittens for the rescue, including Caroline herself.
Someone reached out to the rescue with news of finding two baby kittens completely abandoned outdoors. It was Otter and his sibling, Bunny, and they were approximately 2 weeks old.
The kittens were missing much of their front arms and needed special attention. When they arrived at the rescue, both kittens were sick with upper respiratory infections, fleas, and stomach issues.
They both got better, but it was also discovered that little Otter had a hole in his skull that can lead to his brain coming out of the open cavity. This kind of health condition leaves Otter vulnerable to infection and further head injury, so they needed to come up with something special to keep him safe.

The rescue center had a follower reach out to them on social media with an offer to make Otter a special helmet that would protect his head.
The video footage shows Otter running and playing with his sibling and getting into mischief, much like any other kitten, only he wears a little helmet to help keep him safe.
