Jamie Spears’ Leg Was Surgically Removed, According To Multiple Sources

Families are complicated and no one knows this better than Britney Spears. In 2008, she was placed under a conservatorship controlled by her father Jamie Spears. In 2021, after a legal battle supported by her fans, the conservatorship was terminated. Because of this, Jamie and Britney are estranged.

Jamie's health has not been the best in recent years. Multiple sources confirmed to People that he recently had a leg amputated because of an infection. Another source told Page Six the infection came after knee replacement surgery.

Jamie is 71 years old. About a month ago, he reportedly spent weeks in the hospital battling the infection. Amputation was a last resort. This was not the first time he found himself in bad health.

In 2018, his colon ruptured, which almost killed him. He underwent emergency surgery and was hospitalized for 28 days. He spent several months recovering.

Britney and Jamie are currently estranged. Sources told Page Six she has no plans to reach out to him even with this health scare. She has even talked about in court taking legal action against him for his role in her conservatorship. One of the ways Britney chose to heal was telling her side of the story through her memoir, The Woman in Me.

“Over the past 15 years or even at the start of my career, I sat back while people spoke about me and told my story for me,” Britney told People. “After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life.”

Jamie does not believe he did anything wrong. "I love my daughter with all my heart and soul,” he told the Daily Mail in 2022. “Where would Britney be right now without that conservatorship? And I don’t know if she’d be alive. I don’t.”
