Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss Denies Dating Dennis Rodman, Says Her Dad Told Her To Watch Him

If there's one truth Jeanie Buss is standing on, it's that she and Dennis Rodman never dated. During a recent appearance on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, the Lakers owner denied the former basketball player's recent claims that the two dated while he played for the Lakers in 1999.

“I did not date Dennis Rodman,” she clarified. Dennis made the claims during an interview with VLAD TV in September, stating that he and Jeanie dated for six months, though it didn't sit well with other team members, such as Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, at the time.

“I mean yes, in other words, when my dad [former Lakers owner Jerry Buss] brought on Dennis Rodman to the team it was kind of like, 'Let’s make sure that we know where he is at all times,'” she explained. She went on to say that essentially, she ended up being wherever Dennis was.

In her explanation, it sounds more like babysitting than dating. "You could say it was dating to say that it was making sure that I had an eye on him," she added.

However, in Dennis' eyes, his "relationship" with Jeanie stirred up commotion with Kobe and Shaq. “They rarely would talk to me, even in games. I think that’s the main reason why they cut me. They went to the upper hand, and they didn’t want me anymore.”
